Richard Davies (Mynyddog) (1833-1877) was a poet, singer, and conductor.
He was born near Llanbrynmair which is roughly between Staylittle and Mallwyd in northern Powys (previously Montgomeryshire). He spent his early days as a farmer and shepherd. His open-air life in rural Wales among rural folk remained a central element of his work. He was popular and successful as a composer of songs, singer and conductor. His lyrics include Myfanwy and Sosban Fach and also the libretto to Joseph Parry’s opera Blodwen. He is buried in the Old Chapel graveyard in Llanbrynmair.
