Words
Boneddwr mawr o’r Bala
Rhyw ddiwrnod aeth i hela
Ar gaseg denau ddu
Ar gaseg denau ddu
Ha-ha ha-ha
Ha-ha ha-ha
Ar gaseg denau ddu.
Carlamodd yr hen gaseg
O naw o’r gloch tan ddeuddeg
Heb unwaith godi pry’.
O’r diwedd cododd lwynog
Yn ymyl tŷ cymydog
A’r corn a roddodd floedd.
Yr holl fytheid redasant
A’r llwynog coch ddaliasant
Ond ci rhyw ffarmwr oedd.
Wrth fynd yn ôl o’r hela
Daeth y bonheddwr tila
I groesi hen bont bren.
Ond chana i ddim chwaneg
Fe syrthiodd efo’i gaseg
I’r afon dros ei ben.
Translation
A big nobleman from Bala
One day went hunting
On a thin black mare
On a thin black mare
Ha-ha ha-ha
Ha-ha ha-ha
On a thin black mare.
The old mare galloped
From nine o’clock until twelve
Without so much as raising a fly.
At last she raised a fox
Near to the neighbour’s house
And the horn gave a shout.
The whole hunting pack ran
And they caught the red fox
But it was some farmer’s dog.
Going back from the hunt
The pathetic gentleman came
To cross an old wooden bridge.
But I can’t sing any more
He fell with his horse
Into the river over his head.
